For owner-managed UK businesses

Two or three of your people are doing work a £100-a-month system could do.

Updated September 2026

Quoting. Reporting. Re-keying supplier invoices. Chasing job progress. I find that work inside your business, price every hour of it in £ per month, and install the systems that remove it. Then I train your team to run them without me.

The problem, with numbers

Why now

This isn't a technology gap. Most firms have already tried the tools. The gap is that nobody inside the business owns the job of making them pay.

23% of mid-sized UK firms are using AI in any form. UK adoption research
11% have automated an actual operational process, compared with 54% who say they "use AI". British Chambers of Commerce
88% of UK construction firms neither use AI nor plan to. The least digitised sector in the country. Sector adoption survey

The distance between "we use ChatGPT" and "our quoting takes two hours instead of two days" is the whole opportunity. It is almost never closed by buying more software. It is closed by someone mapping the process, costing it, and building the thing.

How it works

Four steps, and you can stop after any of them

Nobody signs a retainer with someone they've never worked with. So the first step is free, the second is fixed-price and standalone, and each one earns the next.

Step 1

AI Readiness Check

Free4 minutes, no call

A short structured check that scores where your business actually stands and tells you the two or three processes most likely to pay back first. You get the output whether or not we ever speak.

Step 3

Team training

£3,000–£6,000remote or on-site

The systems only hold if your people can run them. Hands-on sessions using your own live workflows and your own data, rather than generic prompt courses. Your team leaves able to build small automations without calling anyone.

Step 4

Fractional AI Officer

from £4,500/mo£4,500 · £7,500 · £12,000 by scope

The senior person who owns this permanently, without the six-figure hire. I build and run the systems, report to you monthly on what they've saved, and keep finding the next one. Month-to-month, with no annual lock-in.

  • An MD dashboard wired to your real sales and finance data, first
  • Managed automations: built, monitored, and fixed when they break
  • Customer-facing systems where they pay: call handling, enquiry triage, follow-up
  • Websites and internal tools built properly when the work needs them
  • A standing monthly review in £, not in features shipped

If the audit doesn't pay for itself, you don't pay for it

The whole point of the audit is that every recommendation carries a number. So it should be judged on one: if it doesn't identify at least three times its fee in annualised savings, you owe nothing and you keep the roadmap.

I can offer that because the pattern is so consistent: in an owner-managed business there is almost always someone spending hours a week on work a system could do. If yours is the exception, that is genuinely worth knowing, and you shouldn't have paid to find out.

Why this isn't the usual consultancy

The honest differences

I build the things

Most AI consultancies produce a deck and leave. Everything I recommend, I can build, and most of it I have built already. The sites, dashboards and automations on this domain are mine, not a portfolio of other people's work.

Priced in your arithmetic

No "productivity uplift" percentages. Hours, rates, and £ per month. If the number doesn't clear the cost, I'll tell you not to do it, including when that means not hiring me.

Your team learns to fish

The goal is that you need me less over time, not more. Every system comes with the training to run it. Retainers are month-to-month precisely so I have to keep being worth it.

One person, not a bench

You get the person who did the audit doing the work. No juniors learning on your account. That caps how many clients I take. It is the trade, and the reason the diary is genuinely finite.

Reasonable objections

FAQ
We've already tried AI and it didn't stick.

That's the normal outcome, and it's usually not a tool problem. Someone tries ChatGPT, gets a good result once, and then nothing changes because no process was rebuilt around it. The 54%-say-yes / 11%-actually-automate gap is exactly this. The audit starts from your processes, not from a tool.

£3,500 is a lot for a document.

It is, which is why it's guaranteed against three times its own fee in annualised savings. If you'd rather test the thinking first, the readiness check is free and takes four minutes, and the call after it costs nothing.

Will this mean laying people off?

In almost every business I look at, no. It means the people you already have stop spending their week on re-keying and chasing. Most owner-managed firms are under-staffed for the work they want to do, not over-staffed for the work they have. If redundancy is your goal, I'm probably not the right person.

Our data is sensitive.

Then that constrains the design, and it's better to say so on day one. Plenty of what pays best runs entirely inside your own systems and never sends data anywhere. The audit flags what's safe, what needs care, and what I'd refuse to do.

Are you going to disappear after the audit?

The audit is deliberately standalone: a roadmap you can hand to anyone, including an internal team or another supplier. If you want me to install it, that's step 4. If you don't, you've still got the document you paid for.

How quickly does anything actually change?

The audit takes two to three weeks. On a retainer, the first thing I build is a dashboard you can see, followed by one automation your staff feel within the first week or two. Deliberately: momentum matters more than the perfect roadmap.
